Kangana's midas touch: 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns` racing fast towards Rs 100 crore

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut has cast her spell yet again with `Tanu Weds Manu Returns` (TWMR) as the movie is doing wonders at the Box Office.

The comedy drama which released last week has earned a bumper Rs 55.25 crore since it's release on May 22. This film is also Bollywood's biggest opener so far in India as well as abroad.

R Madhavan's witty charm and Kangana's incredible performance is clearly a winner and is still doing well in cinemas.

A popular trade analyst has declared it as India's `first blockbuster` of the year.

“Looking at its dream run in India and Overseas, #TanuWedsManuReturns emerges the first BLOCKBUSTER OF 2015. Eyeing ₹ 100 cr in India(sic.)”, he posted.

The movie is set to enter the Rs 100 crore mark even before the onset of the second week collections.

Word of praise for the spunky and hilarious film has spread like wildfire and it seems everyone is flocking to their nearby theatres.

Critics too have given their thumbs up to `TWMR`, showering adulation for `Queen` Kangana who is a delight to watch in the film.

If you're 28, it doesn't mean you've to get married: Kangana Ranaut

Mumbai: There's no "right" age to get married, says actress Kangana Ranaut, who is currently enjoying the success of her latest hit "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and is in no mood to "give away" her "position" in the film industry as of now.

"Marriage is hard work. I have worked hard for ten years and I don't have time to build equations. I am in a place where I can secure my position and have a good future; I don't want to give it away," the National Award winning actress said here.

"When love happens, it happens just like that. Just because you are 28 years old, it doesn't mean you have to get married and have kids," she said.

Kangana, for whom "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" has turned out to be a double whammy post "Queen", says she feels that a new journey has started for her.

"There is a time when you struggle to prove yourself worthy of what you rightfully deserve, and then comes a time when that struggle is over. Then there is struggle to explore, transcend your limit and go to the next level. I am going to stage two now," she said.

Produced by Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions, and directed by Anand L. Rai, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" is a sequel to the 2011 entertainer "Tanu Weds Manu". The film also features R. Madhavan.

Will Aishwarya replace Kangana in Sujoy Ghosh's film?

New Delhi: Green-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made heads turn this year with her super classy Cannes 2015 appearance. The actress, who has been getting a lot of rave reviews for her sartorial picks at the French Riviera this time, also reportedly dropped a hint about her upcoming project while heading back home.

According to reports, the actress before leaving for India, quipped that besides, 'Jazbaa' and Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan', she might also be seen in a Sujoy Ghosh film. Now, ever since the hint has been dropped by her, rumour mills are busy working extra time in finding out whether it is the same project for which Kangana Ranaut's name was doing the rounds, reportedly.

Director Sujoy Ghosh had earlier announced that he will be adapting a Japanese novel named 'The Devotion of Suspect X'. Whether Ash will star in this project or is it a new one altogether, only the makers can clarify.

Kolkata: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut says the stupendous success of her last Bollywood outing "Queen" has elevated her to a position where she can pick and choose her roles.

"I am now in a position to choose roles. I did not have so many offers before 'Queen', but now things have changed a lot," Kangana told reporters here. The 28-year-old model-turned-actress recently won the best actress award at the National Film Awards for the 2014 film 'Queen'.

She will next be seen in 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', which releases on May 22.

Taking the story of the 2011 film 'Tanu Weds Manu' forward, the sequel is the love story of a couple, who has been married for the last four years and is now on the verge of divorce.

"This kind of a love story on contemporary marriage has not been done before. It has a subtle and relatable humour," Kangana said.

Asked about her own marriage plans, the actress said she is in a dilemma on the subject.

"My views are very fluctuating. I have very contradictory takes on the subject. Dating is easier while marriage is hard work. You see your friends having early divorces and on the other hand you see your parents having a successful marriage," she said.

When the ‘Queen’ and ‘Mary Kom’ partied together!

Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut threw a joint bassh together to celebrate their respective achievements at the 62 National Film Awards.

The two, who have shared screen space in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’, seemed to have a rocking time last evening.

National Award winner Kangana Ranaut in mood to celebrate

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, won a National Film Award for her performance in ‘Queen’, is elated over the recognition. The actress says she never expected the film to do so well and she will celebrate her win in Mumbai.

President Pranab Mukherjee honoured the actress on Sunday at the 62nd National Film Awards ceremony here.

This is her second award with the first one being in the Best Supporting Actress category for ‘Fashion’

"That was supporting actress and this is Best Actress. 'Queen' has also got another award. So, we will have a big celebration party in Mumbai," she told reporters.

Dressed in a body-hugging gown in pastel shade with a long flowing cape, the actress looked chic as she completed her look with a bun and a dark lip colour.

The film which narrates a story of an inspirational girl-next-door who embarks on her honeymoon alone after her prospective husband backs off, also won the honour in Best Hindi film category.

Kangana portrays role of a simple girl named Rani. She was appreciated for the role from all quarters.

"I never expected 'Queen' to get recognition at this level (winning a National Film Award). We are very happy that the film was accepted on such a wide scale," she said.

Actress Tripta Lakhanpal, who played role of Kangana's grandmother in the film, was also present to cheer for the actress at the award ceremony.

Produced by Phantom Films and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, the film which was directed by Vikas Bahl also starred Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon.

Kangana is now busy with her upcoming films "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and "Katti Batti". She has also bagged a biopic on late Indian screen icon Meena Kumari.

Kangana looking forward to attending National Awards ceremony

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, named best actress at this year's National Film Awards for her performance in ‘Queen’, says she is excited over next month's ceremony when she will receive the honour.

The 62nd National Awards will be held on May 3. The 28-year-old actress has shunned awards shows in the past, the most recent being the Filmfare Awards where she won the best actress for Vikas Bahl's coming-of-age drama.

"I am looking forward to attending the National Awards. I don't like attending commercial award shows. But National Awards are different," said Kangana, who was here to attend the launch of new jewellery line - Sunar.

The actress will be next seen in Aanand L Rai's ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, which is the sequel to 2011 film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. The trailer of the film also starring R Madhavan and Jimmy Shergill, has been given a thumbs up by the audience as well as the film industry.

"The second part is equally nice. I hope you all will enjoy it. I am happy that people have liked the trailer. I can assure you that the film is even better," said Kangana, who will be seen in a double role in the movie.

‘Tanu Weds Manu’ did good business at the box office. When asked about her expectations from the sequel, she said, "The film should do well. Its important for films to do good business as it benefits the whole movie industry."

 

Kangana, Madhavan, Raghu to join 'Masterchef' gang for finale

New Delhi: Makers of cooking-based reality TV show “MasterChef India 4” are set to roll out a truly grand finale on April 12. "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" stars like Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan, as well as Raghu Ram will come to inject enthusiasm among contestants and root for their favourite.

"While Raghu will be seen hosting the grand finale episode, Kangana and Madhavan will add a fun spirit as they will come to promote their upcoming film 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'," said a source. 

Adding a fiery twist to the final episode, Kangana will also be seen cooking with 'charming assistant' Madhavan. 

Raghu, who found fame with the youth-oriented reality show  Roadies, has been part of the cooking reality show in the past in “MasterChef Season-1” and “Junior MasterChef”.

The show introduced a vegetarian twist to its format this season. The show, which is being judged and hosted by culinary experts Sanjeev Kapoor, Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar, will air the final episode on April 12.

While, the film has already been made in Japanese and Korean languages, a Hollywood adaptation of it too is underway. Sujoy plans to start shooting his version from April this year.
