Los Angeles: “X-Men” star Hugh Jackman has announced he will quit the superhero franchise after playing his character Wolverine for one last time.
“Wolverine... one last time,” Jackman captioned a photograph of his fists, clutching the claws of his famous mutant character, variety.com.
However, it's unclear if he will make his final appearance as Wolverine in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse", which will begin production soon for May 27, 2016 release, or save it for James Mangold's "The Wolverine 3", which is slated to hit screens on March 3, 2017.
Jackman first played Wolverine in 2000 film “X-Men”, taking over the role from Dougray Scott after the actor sustained an injury. He has now assumed the role an unrivaled seven times, including two turns in his own offshoots - “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “The Wolverine”.
